As I slog around what is NOLA sports hell, aka New Orleans Saints' 2024 season, I concede we are in for a complete roster overhaul.
How complete will the blowup be? I can see 20 new players on the 2025 53-man roster (and also can see the buh-bye of several veteran legends...)
As I see it, the biggest and most critical needs for this team are up the middle on both sides, in order of need: DT, OG, an inside LB, RB and an enforcer S.
Here's my position by position breakdown of who I believe will survive the coming roster armageddon:
QB: Carr, Rattler
RB: Kamara, Miller, Mims
RB/TE: Taysom Hill
FB: Prentice
TE: Holker, Moreau
WR: Means, Valdes-Scantling, Olave, Shaheed
OT: Penning, Fuaga
OG: Ruiz, Patrick
C: McCoy
K: Grupe
P: Hayball
DS: Wood
DT: Boyd, Bresee
DE: Foskey, *Jordan, Turner, Young, Granderson
LB: Gay, Werner, *Davis
S: Harris, Howden, *Matthieu
CB: McKinstry, Taylor, Payton, Amadi
*Hard truth: Jordan, Davis and Honey Badger are all past their prime, so if salaries don't work, we must move on from all 3
